Good care is expensive - statutory long-term care insurance is often not enough
Anyone can be in need of care. A good two million Germans need constant care. Two thirds are cared for at home, one third as inpatients. Statutory long-term care insurance often does not come close to covering the costs. A place in a home costs an average of 3,000 euros per month, of which you, as the person in need of care, pay about half yourself. You can cover these costs with supplementary long-term care insurance.
Protect yourself with supplementary private long-term care insurance
There are three types of supplementary long-term care insurance: Long-term care annuity insurance pays out a monthly annuity, depending on the need for assistance, as soon as you need long-term care - depending on the tariff chosen, already from care level 1. Long-term care cost insurance reimburses the remaining costs after advance payment of the statutory or private compulsory insurance, depending on the agreement up to 100 percent. Daily care allowance insurance pays an agreed amount for each day of care.
Tip: The state rewards your private supplementary care. You can deduct the contributions to your supplementary private long-term care insurance as pension expenses in your tax return.
