The best way to protect yourself and your company from liability risks is to take out public liability insurance - because the German Civil Code says: "Anyone who intentionally or negligently injures the life, body, health, freedom, property or any other right of another unlawfully is obliged to compensate the other for the resulting damage".
Public liability offers protection
Public liability insures all activities that usually serve the business purpose. In addition to the owner, his employees are also insured. Public liability insurance provides coverage, for example, if assembly errors cause consequential damage to the customer or if bystanders are injured during work.
Occupational groups with special responsibilities are obliged to take out special professional liability insurance - these include architects, tax consultants and doctors. Self-employed persons in the consulting professions who can cause financial losses to their clients through incorrect advice should protect themselves with pecuniary loss liability insurance.
Environmental liability insurance covers the risk of environmental damage. Product liability insurance compensates for damage caused by defective goods and services supplied by the company - such damage is not covered by classic business liability insurance.
